Usernames & @Mentions
Your username is your unique handle on NaviGuide. It's used for @mentions in StarGuide chat, making it easy for others to ask about you.
Setting Up Your Username
- Go to Settings from your profile menu
- Find the Username field in your profile section
- Enter your preferred username — you'll see a green checkmark if it's available
- Save your changes
Username Rules
- 3 to 30 characters long
- Lowercase letters, numbers, underscores (_), and periods (.) only
- Must be unique — no two users can have the same username
- You can change your username at any time in Settings
How @Mentions Work
When chatting with StarGuide, you can type @ followed by a connection's name or username to ask about them. StarGuide will use their shared profiles to provide personalized insights.
💡 Example
Try asking: "What are @sarah.jones's communication strengths?" or "How should I collaborate with @mike given our different work styles?"
📝 Important
You can only @mention connections who have accepted your connection request and shared their profiles with you. The autocomplete dropdown will only show eligible connections.
